Avon Animal Hospital has provided full pet care services for over 50 years while establishing a reputation for excellent service and good quality medicine.

Wellness / Routine Care:

Wellness care is just that – monitoring pets while they are well to create a baseline for catching issues before they become health risks. Annual checkups offer a wealth of benefits, both preventative and for early treatment. From vaccinations to monitoring your pet’s overall well being including weight and nutrition, we get to know your pet and track their course of health.

Our wellness visits are two-fold. First, we develop a trusting relationship with you and your pet. When your pet feels safe and comfortable with us, we can more accurately evaluate their health and administer care to manage that health over time. The second component is clinical, including a thorough physical examination to ensure that your pet’s body is functioning as it should be. It is here that we’ll devise a customized preventative health care plan that includes vaccinations, intestinal parasite screens, blood and urine screens, dental cleanings and other services.

Vaccinations:

Vaccinations will prevent many major diseases from your pet. Avon Animal Hospital recommends creating and adhering to a customized vaccination schedule as part of a comprehensive wellness plan. Vaccinations are sometimes referred to as “core”, which are recommended for all dogs & cats and “non-core”, which are recommended based on the individual pet and environmental risk factors.

Dental Cleaning and Surgery:

Imagine going weeks, months or even years without brushing your teeth. Despite its importance, dental care is one of the most neglected components of pet health. What begins as pesky bad breath and yellow teeth can often escalate into a more serious and costly condition. An estimated 85% of adult dogs and cats suffer from dental disease by the time they reach the age of two years old. Not only does this create extreme discomfort, but it can also lead to infection throughout the entire body that could compromise your pet’s overall well being.

At Avon Animal Hospital, dentistry is one of our specialties. We work with you as a team to be proactive in good oral care. In addition to our complete pet dentistry services, including routine preventative care, we offer advanced treatment for existing oral health problems. We’re also happy to guide you through at-home care such as routine teeth brushing. With our commitment to offering the best in oral hygiene and dental care for your pet, you and your pet are certain to leave with a smile.

Cold Laser Therapy:

Laser Therapy is an FDA-cleared modality using low wavelength light to reduce inflammation and consequently results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative pain. Laser therapy treatment is safe, noninvasive, painless, and fast. Treatments to deeper tissues are administered in 5 to 10 minutes. Typically, even chronic patients exhibit improvement after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Laser therapy utilizes the body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity. Despite short treatment times, laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up to 24 hours after treatment.

Surgical Care

Your pet’s safety and comfort are our highest priority at Avon Animal Hospital. Whether your pet needs a routine spay or neuter procedure or requires a more complicated soft-tissue or orthopedic surgery, the veterinary team at Avon Animal Hospital is ready to provide compassionate care using advanced veterinary surgical techniques. Our hospital is capable of performing a variety of surgical procedures. From broken bones to the obstructed intestine, our team is here to help you and your pet.

It is our goal to make your pet comfortable and provide you with peace of mind. We encourage you to ask questions about your pet’s surgery and welcome you to call and check on your pet following surgery.

Prior to surgery, your pet undergoes a full physical examination; we use this examination to develop an anesthesia protocol for your pet. During surgery, your pet’s vital signs, including oxygen levels and heart rate are monitored using advanced monitoring equipment. A trained veterinary technician is on hand to monitor your pet’s condition during surgery. All pets undergoing surgery are treated with multiple pain-management techniques. Surgical procedures are often a necessary component of your pet’s health care plan that we handle with kindness, compassion, and the highest-quality care.

In House Diagnostics

Digital X-ray

Advanced digital radiology is one of the most effective tools available when diagnosing your pet’s condition. Avon Animal Hospital is proud to offer state-of-the-art digital radiology to your pet.

X-rays are a powerful, versatile diagnostic tool. X-rays are used to identify the location and severity of fractures, detect signs of heart disease, identify foreign bodies in your pet’s stomach and much more. Digital x-ray technology greatly benefits your pet. Digital x-ray equipment produces high-quality, accurate images. This results in fast, more accurate treatment for your pet. These images can also be saved to a disc or emailed to a specialist, allowing for fast consultations and specialty care, when necessary.
