Wylie Bassett
Surgical Coordinator
Wylie hails from the western Finger Lakes area and has always had a love and compassion for animals. She’s worked with animals throughout her post-college career from retail opportunities to an animal care attendant, which eventually lead to her most recent roles as surgery coordinator in various animal hospitals around the Rochester area. Her determination as a subject matter expert has consistently been the driving force for her hard work ethic in the industry.
Wylie is best known for her attention to detail and empathetic heart when caring for clients, both human and non-human. In her free time, Wylie loves to care for her four cats, pet-sit on the side, and enjoys a good hammock spot in the local parks with a book.
Taryn Dechow
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Taryn grew up in Randolph, NY and has always been passionate about veterinary medicine. Since then, Taryn has continued to deepen her expertise in these areas, with a strong focus on refining her technical skills to provide exceptional pain management and care for patients.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time with her beloved pets—two cats named River and Ivy, and a dog named Ryah.
Mary Messmer
Surgical Assistant
I’ve been a veterinary assistant for 7 years. I have had a passion for helping animals ever since I was little. I love what I do! My goal is to go to college and become a veterinary technician. When I’m not in the clinic, I love to go camping, fishing, hiking and snowmobiling in the winter with my boyfriend. I have my two little sidekicks named Luna and Squatch who keep me busy!
Lorye Manns
Licensed Veterinary Technician
My name is Lorye and I’ve been a licensed veterinary technician for 13 years! My favorite and primary role as a technician has been focused in surgery and anesthesia. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and sunny and spending time with family. Lastly, but not least, I have six amazing cats ranging in age from 14 years old to 7 months. As a Rochester native, I hope to continue my work in providing quality veterinary care in our community.
Victoria Satterly
Licensed Veterinary Technician
I am from Endicott, NY. I attended Tech school at Johnson College, Pennsylvania while working as an ACA at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, completed my externship at VMCLI in Islip, NY where I spent the next 9 months falling in love with Emergency and Specialty medicine.
In an effort to be closer to family, I relocated with my fiance to Rochester NY in 2015 where I joined Monroe Veterinary Associates as a Licensed Veterinary Technician on the Emergency Service and spent 9 years learning from the best about anesthesia, patient care, client communication, and the various opportunities to grow and excel in Veterinary Medicine, while upholding various positions across specialty services and in leadership. From there I found myself at Canfield Vet, a small, locally owned General Practice in Pittsford, NY for almost 2 years where I used my skillset in a totally different way. And in September 2024 when I was looking to get back into more advanced medicine, I joined Cornell University as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the ICU where I assist in caring for the most critical pets part time.
When the weather permits, I enjoy walking, running, and gardening. My now husband and I have purchased our forever home on several acres and we enjoy watching the sunset over the hill each night, and the various wildlife that wanders through our field. We have 2 cats, Bailey and Sterling, 2 dogs, Caleb (sheltie) and Eva (chihuahua), chickens, and a turtle!
Kristy Wolfe
Licensed Veterinary Technician
I have been a vet tech since 2012 where I went straight from college in Emergency medicine. I also have worked in general practice before finally finding my passion in surgical medicine. I love helping animals and will continue to do so as long as possible. I have a son, another one on the way and a dog named Maddie May with my husband Mike. We enjoy doing family outings on the weekends or anything outdoors!
Chris Townsend
Licensed Veterinary Technician
I have been a lifelong resident of the Rochester area, I graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 2014 with a B.S. in Biology. I later enrolled in Medaille Colleges’ Veterinary Technician program. I became a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in 2018 and began my career in general practice. After three years, I transitioned to the surgery service at VSES, where I discovered my passion for anesthesia and surgical nursing. I hope someday to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in anesthesia.
Outside of veterinary medicine, my friends and family know me as a jack of all trades, with a deep passion for music. I play trumpet in both a Ska/Punk band and a symphony orchestra, and I’ve worked as a lighting technician and sound engineer for nearly 15 years at events throughout New York State.
When I’m not working or playing music, I love spending time outdoors—hiking, birdwatching, and volunteering with local wildlife and conservation groups. At home, I share my life with my two cats, Seamus and Finnegan.
